Background
Also known as "shaking palsy". Etiology may involve genetic, environmental, age-related, drug-related factors and oxidative stress. It is one of the most common degenerative diseases of the nervous system. Clinical manifestations include resting tremor, muscular rigidity, and bradykinesia. Tremor is the most characteristic symptom of Parkinson's disease. Postural and gait disturbances may also occur, as well as psychiatric symptoms — depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances.
